U.S. HealthWorks Announces
Management Changes
VALENCIA, CALIF. - May 1, 2007 - Privately
held U.S. HealthWorks, the nation's second largest operator of outpatient occupational health and urgent care centers,
today announced the promotion of Steven F. McLaughlin to the newly created position of Executive Vice President
- Operations. In his new position he will oversee clinic operations nationwide and be located in Valencia, reporting
to the Chief Executive Officer.
Most recently Mr. McLaughlin was Senior Vice President and General Manager of the Company's West Division, which
included Washington, Alaska, Arizona, Ohio and Indiana.
"In a strong senior management team, Steve has distinguished himself as a leader, delivering results by maintaining
focus on key business drivers, cultivating cooperation across the enterprise, developing a strong team of reports
and delegating effectively," said U.S. HealthWorks CEO Daniel D. Crowley. "I am pleased to announce his
promotion and look forward to his implementation of best practices throughout our clinic operations."
In another key management change, Joseph T. Mallas has been named Senior Vice President - Revenue Management.
In his new role, he will oversee billing and collections nationwide, reporting to the CEO. Joe's previous role
was Senior Vice President and General Manager of the Company's East Division, which included Texas, Florida, Georgia,
North Carolina, New Jersey, Pennsylvania and Maine.
"Joe has an excellent management and leadership track record in the organization," said Mr. Crowley.
"He has a gift for improving business processes. As a result, the billing and collection center in his Division
has emerged as a best practice leader. His extensive experience and knowledge of the business will enable him
systematically to work with operations to implement best practices in the billing and collections process across
the enterprise."
Therese M. Hernandez will report to Mr. McLaughlin and will continue to lead the Company's largest group of clinics
as Senior Vice President - California Operations.
"Therese has done an excellent job leading California operations," said Mr. Crowley. "She and her
team have grown market share impressively in an environment of declining injury rates. Centralization of billing
and collections management under Mr. Mallas will enable her to direct more energy toward clinic acquisitions throughout
the state to support our continued growth."
Andrew J. Parker, MD, Chief Medical Officer, will also report to Mr. McLaughlin and will continue to lead quality
assurance, clinical training and national coding. Regional medical directors will report through the operational
leaders in their regions.
Gregory C. Marotta was promoted to Vice President - East and will add to his responsibilities oversight of clinic
operations in Florida, Georgia and North Carolina. Mr. Marotta was previously Regional Vice President - Northeast.
Edward "Ned" Pucek, Regional Vice President - Southwest, who leads clinic operations in Texas, will assume
responsibility for Arizona as well. Mark D. Thomet, who leads sales in Texas reporting to Mr. Pucek, will become
Regional Sales Director - Southwest and assume sales leadership responsibility in Arizona.
