Salix Ventures Announces Investment In Trilogy Health Services

NASHVILLE, TENNESSEE (April 23, 2004) -- Salix Ventures announced today a $3.5 million investment as part of a $25.9 million Series A Preferred Stock financing in Trilogy Health Services of Louisville, KY. Frontenac Company, Blue Chip Venture Company and management also participated in the financing. As a result of this investment, David Ward, a General Partner of Salix Ventures, Jeremy Silverman, a Managing Director of Frontenac Company, Paul Carbery, a Managing Director of Frontenac Company, and Greg Taylor, a Director of Blue Chip Venture Company, will join Trilogy Health Services' Board of Directors.

Trilogy develops and operates long-term care facilities in non-urban, Midwestern markets. Trilogy provides skilled nursing, assisted living, memory care and adult day care services through its health campuses. Trilogy's health campuses generally consist of a 65 bed skilled nursing unit and a 40 bed assisted living unit. These units are co-located in the same building and have shared administrative services but have separate entrances and dinning facilities thereby allowing a senior to "age in place." Trilogy, founded in 1997, currently operates 20 health campuses with over 1,900 beds in Indiana and Kentucky.

Randy Bufford is CEO and founder of Trilogy Health Services. Most recently, Randy served as Executive Vice President of Centennial HealthCare Corporation, a long-term care provider, where he oversaw ancillary services and was responsible for more than $75 million in revenue. Prior to Centennial, Randy was the President and CEO of Transitional Health Services. Transitional, funded with $40 million from Welsh, Carson, Anderson and Stowe, grew from $75 million to $135 million of revenue before merging with Centennial HealthCare Corporation in 1995.
